NI startup Taggled recognised for Ireland’s ‘Most Innovative Website’
One of Northern Ireland’s hottest startups, whose technology enables vloggers to tag products, music, locations and even people within video, is celebrating after scooping a top award at this year’s Realex Fire Web Awards.
Taggled, based in Belfast’s Northern Ireland Science Park, successfully beat off competition from companies such as RTE Radio 1 to win ‘Most Innovative Website’ at the event in Dublin’s Four Seasons Hotel on November 6.
Hosted this year by RTE 2FM DJ Rick O’Shea, the Realex Fire Web Awards are held annually to recognise people who do great things on the web.
The awards are judged transparently and are open to anyone in Ireland. The startup’s website was recognised for its video and social media integration, user interface and simplicity in navigation.
Speaking after the ceremony, Taggled’s Marketing and Community Manager Catherine Morris said: “Our technology is all about making video a more dynamic, interactive and rewarding experience for content creators and consumers. We’re extremely pleased to be recognised for our innovative approach and to have made such an impact within just a few months of operations.”
Taggled is a free tool that adds a fresh dimension to vlogging and empowers their user base. When tagged content is clicked, a pop-up window displays more information including vendor details, prices and similar products.
This makes video a more social experience that puts consumers in touch with the brands they like while delivering revenue for the vlogger. To see a Taggled video in action log on to http://taggled.tv/play/308
To tag video, users can simply upload a video to the Taggled site from their device or add video content from YouTube, Dropbox or Instagram.
Taggled is being trialled with a number of vloggers in the fashion and beauty sectors, and will be rolled out across the Irish and international vlogger community in the coming weeks.
Catherine added: “Our aim over the next few months is to continue engaging with vloggers and to support the community with additional support systems and training.
“We’re planning to take our message to the States in the New Year and will be exhibiting at the New Media Expo in Las Vegas and the IAWTV Awards – so we’re really planning to hit 2014 with a bang!”
