New Appointment for Chartered Director Joy Allen

Joy Allen has been appointed Course Leader by the Institute of Directors and will deliver its prestigious ‘Role of the Director and the Board’ course from its headquarters in London and overseas offices.  Joy, who has specialised in governance for 13 years, is one of only 50 Chartered Directors in Northern Ireland. She is Managing Director of Leading Governance, which provides training and support on across all aspects of good governance to the public, private and voluntary sectors.


Joy has worked with hundreds of boards and conducted over 50 governance reviews. Her previous experience includes non-executive director of Belfast Health and Social Care Trust; she has chaired the boards of Simon Community NI and VOYPIC; and she sat on the boards of the Fostering Network UK and the Ulster Community & Hospitals Trust. 


Joy currently sits on the board of Alzheimer’s Society UK and she is also a director of two private sector companies.
