Deloitte Fast 50 Awards

16th November 2012

Powerful Connections to be Celebrated at Technology Awards

Call for entries for 2012 Deloitte Fast 50 Technology Awards

Technology companies across Northern Ireland are being urged to ‘think fast’ and enter the 2012 Deloitte Fast 50 Technology Awards – a celebration of the fifty fastest growing technology businesses from across the island of Ireland. Showcasing the potential, dynamism and diversity of the technology sector, the awards - now in their 13th year - recognise and rank indigenous companies based on five year turnover growth.

14 Northern Ireland companies were included in the list last year with Derry based Learning Pool achieving 6th place overall based on a growth rate of 1,100%. The Rising Star award - which recognises younger companies with the fastest growth in turnover over the past three years – was awarded to Belfast based Sixteen South, a business which creates and produces children’s television programmes.

David Crawford, Partner with Deloitte Belfast, believes the awards are a fantastic snapshot of the sector’s strength and entrepreneurial talent:

“The Fast 50 Awards give a real sense of how the technology sector is performing across the island of Ireland – and we’re pleased to say that the outlook is overwhelmingly positive. To have 14 Northern Ireland based businesses included in the awards last year was a huge achievement, and the diversity of these businesses reflected just how widespread the talent is here. Amazingly, three local companies - Novosco, Andor Technology plc and Texthelp Systems Ltd – have been included in the ranking every year since the awards began, proving that staying power is also a real strength in our sector.”

“The theme of this year’s awards is ‘Powerful Connections’ reflecting how vital business connections and networking opportunities are in modern day business, as well as how technology connects businesses, people and every aspect of our day-to-day interactions. The Fast 50 awards are a great way for companies, young and old, to join a network of likeminded people in celebrating the technology sector.”

The ranking will feature technology companies that have demonstrated innovative strategies, sound management practices and marketplace vision driving them to achieve the status of high-growth leaders. Details on how to enter the awards can be found at www.fast50.ie. The closing date for entries is Friday 14 September 2012.

Ireland’s Fast 50 companies will also be entered into Deloitte’s EMEA Fast 500 award programme, which recognises the fastest growing technology companies in Europe, the Middle East and Africa.
