Co-Founders Wanted!

24th January 2013

On 24th January, NISP CONNECT will host an evening for potential Founders of innovative new startups to showcase their products to a tailored audience of experienced executives and entrepreneurs who are interested in joining as Co-Founders.

The strength of the management team is key to the success of a new commercial venture – it’s the issue that investors rank highest of all. Today, the large majority of Northern Ireland’s sci-tech startups are founded by scientists, technologists or engineers who have developed a new product idea but almost always lack the commercial skills and experience necessary to compete in global markets. In addition, academics who develop intellectual property with commercial potential are typically reluctant to leave academia. This leads to a large portfolio of high-potential new concepts that do not get started.

Efforts to train technologists in entrepreneurship are expensive, take forever and produce poor results. Companies are built by diverse teams and must have strong commercial leadership from the outset. To fill this gap, NISP CONNECT’s Co-Founders Wanted! creates periodic, sector-specific forums where many early stage concept opportunities are presented to many prospective entrepreneur ‘Co-Founders’, to initiate many new ventures that might otherwise fail to launch.

The Programme will cover the main sci-tech sectors separately, and kicks-off with a focus on technology for the inaugural event.
